It was the second Tuesday in December and all through the Haufbrauhaus many children were stirring and maybe even a balloon mouse. This is because at the Haufbrauhaus location in Columbus, Ohio, the 2nd Tuesday of each month is Family Night!
Kids Eat Free Night is 2nd Tuesday of The Month
On this visit, my daughters meal was discounted from $5.99 to zero for the monthly kids eat free event. As Christmas was nearing, Santa and Mrs Claus were there for the children to visit with, and a balloon artist had a line of children waiting for balloon swords, dogs, and other balloon creations that the kids would request. Note: It is good to have a little bit of cash as he was accepting tips. While tipping the balloon artist was not required, the kids seemed to really enjoy, and learn from handing him dollars and getting their balloon creations.
I was told by staff and other visitors that Family Night usually also has face painting, and sometimes other activities for children.
The Kinder Menu for children 12 and under included crayons and some educational, as well as fun coloring games. The menu we received had Counting in German, a find the pretzel maze, and other items to color.
The food items were all priced at $5.99, and the choices were: Schnitzel, Cheeseburger, Cheese Pizza, Chicken Fingers, Mac and Cheese, or Corn Dog. The drink was included in the price and was a choice of Milk, Chocolate Milk, Juice, Soda, or tea. Most items were served with fries, and my daughter chose to substitute apple sauce.
Dining Environment for Kids and Adults
Hofbrauhaus always seems to provide a fun and energetic environment. There is plenty of seating, including booth seating, that is a little farther from the heart of the party, which usually includes dancing on the benches, many large biers being consumed, and often a number of shots. The atmosphere has generally been fun and very festive on my visits to Hofbrauhaus.
Being Family Night, the atmosphere may have been a little more toned down and was very conducive to children having fun. Kids were having balloon sword fights, as well as making their way to the front of the stage to dance and enjoy the musical entertainment. In fact, the musician was taking requests from the groups of children dancing in front of the stage.
